The Akwa Business Tower is one of LongPie's most ambitious undertakings β a 12-storey mixed-use commercial building in the heart of Douala's financial district. Commissioned by a consortium of Cameroonian investors, the project set out to create a world-class professional address that could compete with any major African city.
The brief demanded flexible floor plates capable of accommodating everything from open-plan tech companies to private law firms and executive suites. A double-height ground floor hosts retail and banking tenants, while the rooftop features a conference centre with panoramic views across the Wouri estuary.
Structurally, the building employs a reinforced concrete core with curtain-wall glazing β a first for a LongPie project at this scale. Our engineering and construction teams worked in parallel with international faΓ§ade specialists to achieve the sleek, all-glass north and south elevations while meeting Cameroonian building codes and tropical climate requirements.
The building achieved full occupancy within six months of handover, with tenants including a multinational bank, two telecoms companies, and a flagship corporate law practice.
